    Jacobs is the great nephew of Daniel Chester French. His Uncle French became America's foremost monument sculptor in 1907. French is most recognized for his sculptures of The Concord Minute Man, as well as the Lincoln statue at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. French's old home and studio is now a museum, Chesterwood, in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. 

  Scott's grandparents met at Boston College of Art. His grandfather, Lawrence Jacobs, a wood carver and grandmother, Olive French, a fashion design major. Scott carried on the family legacy of art and college. 

    Born 1985 in Hartford, CT;  Jacobs grew up with a natural talent and love of art. He has been painting since childhood. Jacobs graduated Hartford College of Art at age 18, while in high school. He has studied art with a focus on figure painting in both Southern California, as well as The Monterey Peninsula College. Jacobs studied at The Art Students League of New York with Artist Mary Beth McKenzie, Dan Gheno, Henry Finkelstein and Bennett Vadnais. The three former instructors focused on the human form, and the later on urban cityscapes. 

  A desire to serve our country led Jacobs to join the U.S. Navy at age 20. Scott was commissioned by the US Navy to paint several works, including a mural at Camp Lemonier Djibouti, Africa (Is still up today). After completing his time in the Navy, Jacobs pursued his passion for art. In 2008, a portrait by Jacobs received notable recognition including CNN World News, KTLA News and The Sacramento Bee. At the suggestion of friends in the arts, Jacobs moved to Carmel, CA. Soon after arriving in Carmel -By-The-Sea, Jacobs opened his own one-man studio/gallery in 2010. Scott Jacobs Gallery is currently Celebrating 14 years in Carmel- By-The-Sea.

  Jacobs works in oil with a focus on figurative painting, and landscapes. Jacobs is in numerous private and public collections around the world. Showing at the Monterey Museum of Art in 2012 and 2013. The Carl Cherry Center for The Arts in Carmel, Ca in 2021. Future exhibitions include the Marjorie Evens Gallery Sunset Center, Carmel, Ca.  

    In 2020, 2021and 2022 Scott Jacobs Gallery was voted first place for the best art gallery in Carmel/Monterey County, Ca. The Monterey Herald - Peoples Choice Award. You can find Jacobs painting most days inside his studio- Scott Jacobs Gallery on Mission Street, inside Mission patio shops, between 5th and 6th Street, (across from De Tierra Vineyard Wine Tasting room) in beautiful Carmel-by-the-Sea!

2007  Member of the US Navy Seabees: While serving his 2 years, Jacobs was stationed in Port                          Hueneme, CA. Then deployed to Djibouti/Ethiopia, Africa at Camp Lemonier, as well as Kuwait.                    He was an equipment operator and commissioned muralist/artist for the US Navy.

 

2007  Commissioned by the US Navy to paint murals for the U.S. Navy Seabees in Djibouti, Africa. 

 

2008  Reached world recognition on CNN with the painting titled "Someday Has Come," a portrait of                      president Obama.

 

2010  Jacobs opened his first one man gallery at age 25. Carmel- By- The- Sea, CA.

 

2012  Shows at the Monterey Museum of Art. 

 

2014  Commissioned by Jay Woodcroft (Ass.Coach of the San Jose Sharks) for portraits

2014  Show at the Monterey Museum of Art. 

 

2015  Show at Lincoln Street studio. Carmel, Ca.

 

2016   Full page editorial by Carmel Magazine.

 

2017  Jacobs portrait of "There's Always Hope", a portrait of Bill Murray, is on the Cover of                         Shakers Magazine.                

 

2017 Comedian and actor Bill Murray attends show and writes "It looks like me!" on the back of Jacobs                   portrait "There's Always Hope" a portrait of Bill Murray. Jacobs and Bill Murray are featured on the front             page of the Carmel Pine Cone holding "There's Always Hope".

• Jacobs is one of 10 artist chosen for the Carmel Heart Project. Jacobs portrait of Clint Eastwood sells at auction for 10k  (AUG-2021), 100% donation to the Carmel Women's Club and Carmel Foundation. 

• Jacobs and Zach Weston (Edward Weston's great grandson) have started a series of collaboration works, from nudes to cityscapes. Jacobs paints abstracts in oil over Weston's black and white silver gelatin photographs. 

• 2022 Scott Jacobs Gallery is voted best art gallery in Carmel/Monterey County. -Monterey Herald Peoples Choice Award. 

• 2022 - 2023 Studied at The Art students League of New York. Jacobs studied portrait painting with Dan Gheno, and Marybeth Mckenzie.
